Sometimes it was believed the fairies had enchanted certain rocks. One rock had been enchanted by the fairy queen Áine (or goddess as some believe) and any who sat on it would become insane, also people who were already insane were attracted to it and became even more so.
Also mysterious impressions were made on rocks these were blamed on fairy curses, one such was Clough na Cuddy or Cuddy's Rock, believed to hold the impression of the knees of a monk who mysteriously travelled from his own century to the next century.
